The Holiness of Sex

In our culture we have a strange habit of simultaneously glorifying sex whilst degrading it’s meaning and beauty. Sometimes in Christian circles we go too far the opposite way where sex is taboo and it’s meaning and beauty are exalted to the detriment of our understanding of how sex, like everything else on earth, often has silent echoes of the fall. Sometimes we can selfishly desire our own pleasure more than focusing on the other person; we don’t have the wisdom to always know what will best please the other person in each exact moment; our bodies aren’t always the most conducive to sexual intimacy.

Are our Rights Wrong?

The concept of rights seems to underpin a lot of Western thought and responses to world crises. It effects how people relate to one another, whether they assert their individual rights, or whether they submit to another. In God’s eyes, are we entitled to anything? I think our sense of entitlement is one of the root causes of tensions and arguments between people.
